Stash requires a $1 per month fee for any accounts with a balance of less than $5,000. For balances over $5,000, Stash takes a .25% annual fee.

Fees

Stash has no specific account minimum; however you must have at least $5 to start investing and, as previously stated, fees will change for balances above and below $5,000.

Acount Minimums

Stash is aimed at beginners looking to start investing with no prior experience. This means the app is designed to be very intuitive and easy to use.

Ease of Use

Stash offers the first month for free as part of an ongoing promotion.

Bottom Line

Stash is best for people trying to get into investing at a beginner to intermediate level due to the app's goal of teaching how to invest. The app provides a list of recommended ETFs which is very helpful for people that might not know where to look. Stash also offers fractional shares meaning that you can own parts of a stock if you're not financially able to purchase a full stock. Unfortunately, Stash does require a subscription fee for balances less than $5,000, a category which most beginner users will ultimately fall into. While this may not seem like much, the fees may equate to a large percentage of your balance if you have a low balance.
